Latest Poll Analysis.

This is a must read for you nervous types out there. I found it very interesting that he says that only the "renegade Zogby" is making this look at all like a horse race.

HMX, RDX and JFK.

Bravo, John Kerry. In his zeal to hurl anything, anything, against the president, Kerry stepped into the manure pile up to his neck. The 'bomb-gate' story hits the trifecta for Bush: it proves that Iraq had sophisticated weapons of mass destruction, it proves that at least one UN Security Council Member was actively helping Saddam hide these weapons, and it proves that Syria now has those weapons. The explosives HMX and RDX are not your average military charges. Supposedly, these types of explosives can be shaped into 'lenses' used to crush plutonium into critical mass and thus create a nuclear explosion. If true, this is rather disturbing in conjunction with the stories that Saddam had yellowcake uranium. Uranium is used to make the simpler type of Little Boy bomb that was used to destroy Hiroshima. Plutonium is used to make the much more sophisticated Fat Man implosion type device used to destroy Nagasaki. Saddam was pulling out all the stops, trying to develop both types of nuclear weapons. I wonder what other materials made their way to Syria. Here's a great roundup of the story thus far.

Bush Flips The Bird.

I was prepared to cringe when I heard there was a video of Bush flipping the bird. Heh, I knew I liked this guy.

The Bush Markets Are Tanking!

Funny, just as Bush is solidifying his lead in the polls, and the 'missing' explosives story is blowing up in Kerry's face, the Bush futures market are falling fast. Both the Iowa Electronic Markets and Tradesports are falling rather precipitiously now, and Bush is down to where he was after the first debate. It seems that yet again there is manipulation here by one or several Kerry supporters. Now how pathetic is that. They are so desperate for success in some kind of poll, that they resort to playing with a futures market. If Bush wins, and these people will be out of a good bit of money, for what? To create the illusion that, suddenly, there is some kind of stampede out there for Kerry that somehow doesn't show up in the polls? If it dips much lower, I'd say buy!

A Vote For Bush Is A Vote Against Terror.

As stated forcefully by a patriotic Iraqi, The Mesopotamian.
President Bush now represents a symbol of defiance against the terrorists and it is a fact, that all the enemies of America, with the terrorists foremost, are hoping for him to be deposed in the upcoming elections. That is not to say that they like the democrats, but that they will take such an outcome as retreat by the American people, and will consequently be greatly encouraged to intensify their assault. The outcome here on the ground in Iraq seems to be almost obvious. In case President Bush loses the election there would be a massive upsurge of violence, in the belief, rightly or wrongly, by the enemy, that the new leadership is more likely to “cut and run” to use the phrase frequently used by some of my readers. And they would try to inflict as heavy casualties as possible on the American forces to bring about a retreat and withdrawal. It is crucial for them to remove this insurmountable obstacle which stands in their way. They fully realize that with continued American and allies’ commitment, they have no hope of achieving anything. On the other hand if President Bush is reelected, this will prove to them that the American people are not intimidated despite all their brutality, and that their cause is quite futile. Yes there is little doubt that an election victory by President Bush would be a severe blow and a great disappointment for all the terrorists in the World and all the enemies of America. I believe that such an outcome would result in despair and demoralization of the “insurgent elements” here in Iraq, and would lead to the pro-democracy forces gaining the upper hand eventually.

Fourth Reich Exit Strategy.

I have trouble wrapping my brain around the concept that "Bush is Hitler". I mean, I understand how a leader with the power to crush dissent, round up minorities and invade foreign countries would be compared to Hitler possibly . . . Well it is the whole 'invade foreign countries' thing that invites the Hitler comparison mostly. But . . . the thing I have trouble have understanding is, if Bush is Hitler, and we are living in a crypto-fourth reich . . . then why are we talking about an exit strategy from Iraq? The whole concept of an 'exit strategy' seems entirely alien to the whole nazi schtick. I mean, we need lebensraum and cheap oil, do we not?? Then shouldn't we, as good imperialist fascists, be buying into Iraq and not selling out? And the insurgency? Well, was Hitler put off by Ukrainian partisans? Hmm??? Sure they are pesky, but damn, think about all that oil. If the opposition were to complain that it is the democrats alone that talk about the need for an exit strategy and not the republicans, well, doesn't this too make my point? Ahem, opposition, fourth reich? Can you even have those words in the same sentence? If, twenty years from now, we still have troops stationed in Iraq, it will no doubt be due to the sheer inert dead weight of government that sees to that. We still have troops in Germany and Japan, let us not forget.

"The More Optimistic Candidate Wins Elections."

Dammit Dammit Dammit.

I tried to buy shares of Bush 2004 on Tradesports, but due to my horrendous credit, leaving me with only a debit card, I was able to open an account but not transfer any money to it. Dammit! The bid and the ask were somewhere around $53.50, which was of course the low as of late, and I would already be up five bucks right now. I attempted to buy shares after reading about manipulation of this market by a lone wealthy individual. I would be very curious to see what technical analysts would make of this chart, as if it were any other futures market.

Perception And Fact.

Perception counts for at least as much as Fact in a political campaign, perhaps more. Case in point.

Edwards, Primping and Preening.

I saw the clip at Drudge of Edwards tenderizing his hair. I didn't think it was all that odd because, like the Kerry Mary Cheney gaffe, it didn't surprise me. Politicians seek advantage where they can, they risk making themselves look ridiculous on a daily basis. I have to say though, with all the bunny suit, windsurfing and trail bike pics, and that godawful pic of Kerry playing center on the tarmac, Kerry has lost on the absurdity front. Bush must be thinking of Voltaire - "Lord, make my enemies ridiculous."

Why You Should Vote For George W. Bush.

The War on Terror is the only issue in this campaign. The economy, jobs, healthcare, trade, on and on, all hinge on success in this war – failure could unleash the unimaginable. Bush, in his heart of hearts, wants to fight this war. Kerry wants to move onto other things as soon as possible. Bush wants to crush the terrorists, Kerry wants to finesse them. Bush sees this war in three dimensions. It is a tactical, strategic, intelligence, political, diplomatic, law enforcement and economic struggle. We need both high-tech weapons, and low-rent snitches to win this war, whatever it takes. Kerry sees this war in two dimensions: arrest Osama, war on terror over. Were it only that simple. During the Cold War, Kerry was a dove, supported the nuclear freeze, and opposed funding for weapons systems. He was not merely wrong, he was monumentally wrong. Kerry courted the Sandinistas, the North Vietnamese and the Soviets, showing his misguided need to be ‘sensitive’ to the other side. His liberal voting record continues to show that he has not since reformed himself. That he might be equally conciliatory towards the Iranians, Syrians and North Koreans should make you concerned.

Gulf Of Tonkin, Again.

I have been in the war museum in Vietnam where John Kerry's picture supposedly hangs along with other 'heroes' that aided the Vietnamese in their fight against the US, but I don't remember seeing his picture there, and in any event this was back in 1990 and I was only dimly aware of who John Kerry was.

But . . . I do remember seeing two russian-made torpedoes on stands by the entrance to the museum, with a placard reading "Mark [number]Torpedoes, Identical to the Type of Torpedo Fired Upon the USS Maddux, August 04, 1964."

I forget the precise quote and model number of the weapons.

I thought it interesting that the Vietnamese actually do claim to have fired upon the US in the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, and that no one (certainly not Ted Koppel) has really asked the Vietnamese what happened.

Yet another 'parallel', real or imagined, between Vietnam and Iraq. I sincerely, truly and honestly hope that Bush can triumph completely in Iraq (duh), and that this nation can finally put a stake through the heart of this Vietnam Vampire that refuses to die.

Mary Cheney-Gate

If any item in the news gets enough people riled up you can add fuel to the fire by adding '-gate' at the end, which I have gratuitously done here.

I really don't understand why this thing about 'outing' Mary Cheney is becoming such a big deal, and I am as surprised by the reaction as John Kerry. Except I'm not wearing a long face because of it.

'Republitarian'

By the way, I credit this term to Larry Elder, and I don't know if he made it up or borrowed it, and don't care. The moment I heard it I knew it described me also.

Condi, Cheney, Rummy . . .

I happen to think that the high officials in the Bush administration are doing a great job. I have no idea if the polling data shows that Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, etc. are a plus or a minus for the administration, but I have a feeling that the competence, intelligence and professionalism these people demonstrate (or the illusion thereof) has just gotta be a net plus in getting Bush reelected. I haven't seen the Bush campaign make much of this advantage(?) - or is this point being made on tv and I am just missing it? (I don't have a tv, and so I get news from WLS-am Chicago and KRLA Los Angeles, and from surfing blogs until my eyeballs droop).
